Shepparton High School deaf facility, established in 2003, provides daily support to deaf and hearing impaired students across years 7-12. All mainstream programs, offered through Shepparton High School, are available for deaf students to participate in. Access to the classroom curriculum is catered for, through signing interpreters (auslan), teachers of the deaf or note-takers. Students are supported using each individual's chosen method of communication.
Participation is promoted at Shepparton High. Deaf Facility staff attends nearly all of the extra curricular activities, offer support to students in their chosen activities: camps, sporting events, excursions.
In addition to supporting the subject curriculum, the Deaf facility offers flexibility through their support programs, developed for Deaf students, by Teachers of the Deaf and Deaf Adults.
