The Grade 6 Orientation Day is Tuesday December 8th. It is best if students arrive at Shepparton High School by 8:50am and meet in the Assembly Hall, entering via the canteen. Students will undertake a program of a “normal” school day to enable them to familiarise themselves with the school surroundings, class times, rooms, teachers and some subjects. Students should come in their primary school uniform, wearing a hat and runners. They should also bring a notebook and writing materials. There will be an opportunity for students to order their lunch on this day and the canteen manager will provide a Grade 6 $5.00 “Special” for this day. Students will be dismissed at 3:18pm.
Country Bus travellers who live more that 4.8km from Shepparton High School and who have returned a bus application form to Shepparton High School will receive a letter with bus details for this day and 2010. If you do not receive a letter by the end of November, please contact the Area Bus Coordinator – Mrs Heather Griffiths at Shepparton High School. Drivers are aware that it is Orientation Day and there will be new students on the bus. Students are encouraged to ask drivers for information if they have any concern on the day of travel. We will have teachers at the bus stop at the end of the day to assist students to board the correct bus.
All students attending Shepparton High School in 2010 will be visited in late October or November at their Primary School by Mrs Edwards the Transition Coordinator and will be given a Transition Handbook which details all the information for students and parents.
Prior to Orientation Day on Monday 7th December at 7.30 pm there will be a Parent Information night. All parents of Year 7 2010 students are invited and encouraged to attend. This will be an opportunity to meet the Principal Mr Phil Squire and the 2010 Year 7 Coordinator. Some second hand books and combination locks will be available for purchase and the $300 School Start Bonus voucher will be available for collection.
If you have any concerns please feel free to contact me at the school on ph. 58214322.
