Shepparton High School Uniform – Student Dress Code
The aim of the Student Dress Code is to recognise the positive role of clothing in promoting a sense of individual and collective pride in students, and to promote their identification within the school and community.
General Information for All Students
- Small ear studs and/or sleepers worn in the ears and a watch are the only jewellery that is permitted to be worn.
- Due to health and safety issues nose rings/studs lip rings/studs eyebrow rings/studs are not permitted.
- Students are not permitted to wear chains on their trousers.
- Extreme hair styles (eg spikes, mohawks) and non-natural hair colours are not accepted.
- Students are required to wear a broad brimmed hat during terms one and four if they are outside, whether it be playing on the oval, basketball courts or walking around the school. Students are free to select a broad brimmed hat of their choice. The wearing of sunglasses and sunscreen when outdoors is also encouraged when outdoors.
Year 7 – 11 Students
Students in Years 7 - 11 will wear a school uniform as approved by School Council, on the way to school while at school and on the way home. Students are to wear school uniform on excursions. Ribbons, bands or scrunchies are permitted to be worn in the hair provided they are blue or white, or blue and white in colour. Clear nail polish may be worn. No other nail polishes are permitted. The wearing of cosmetics is not permitted.
Year 12 Students
Students in Year 12 are required to wear school uniform.
Girls - Summer
SHS uniform shorts or SHS navy skirt, VCE polo top or white business shirt, VCE rugby top or SHS grey jumper. Black Leather school shoes.
Girls -Winter
SHS uniform winter pants, white business shirt, VCE rugby top / SHS grey jumper / SHS winter jacket with black leather shoes or
SHS track pants with WHITE runners (no colored, flouro shoes)
Boys Summer
SHS uniform shorts, VCE polo top or white business shirt, VCE rugby top or SHS grey jumper. Black leather shoes.
Boys Winter
SHS uniform pants, white business shirt, VCE rugby top / SHS grey jumper / SHS winter jacket with black leather shoes or
SHS track pants with WHITE runners (no colored, flouro shoes)
Girls Uniform
Dress
Blue and white checked frock with princess line front, set-in sleeves, white collar and cuffs and half belt. Length: no shorter than 10cm above ground when kneeling. Butterick Pattern 993 with modifications.
Jumper / Jacket
Grey Shepparton High School jumper and/or Navy and White Shepparton High School showerproof jacket with Shepparton High School logo.
Kilt
Kilt in ‘Cleoron’ material No. 9065, worn with navy tights or pantihose. Length: no shorter than 10cm above ground when kneeling.
Shirt
White shirt or white polo shirt (no labels or logos). A plain white skivvy or T-shirt may be worn under the shirt (no logos or other symbols permitted).
Shoes
Black leather (not suede) lace up shoes with black laces – traditional school shoes. Or black T bar shoes. Brown Roman sandals only if worn with shorts or dress. Doc Martins are permitted only if worn with slacks.
Shorts
Niceline style, Krestaron fabric colour code 308, worn with plain white polo shirt (no logos/labels).
Slacks
Niceline navy blue pleated dress slacks. Thight fitting 'face off' type slacks are not permitted.
Socks
White socks with navy and pale blue stripe or plain white socks (sports style not anklet style). Grey school socks are permitted only if worn with slacks.
Boys Uniform
Jumper / Jacket
Grey Shepparton High School jumper and/or Navy and White Shepparton High School showerproof jacket with Shepparton High School logo.
Shirt
White shirt or white polo shirt (no labels or logos). A plain white skivvy or T-shirt may be worn under the shirt (no logos or other symbols permitted).
Shoes
Black leather (not suede) lace up shoes with black laces – traditional school shoes.
Shorts
Navy blue dress shorts (Style 360s). Cargo style shorts are not permitted.
Slacks
Long college grey school slacks (Yakka) worn with or without black belt.
Socks
Plain white socks (sports style not anklet style). Grey school socks are permitted only if worn with slacks.
Physical Education and Sports Uniform
A new uniform will be available in 2009 comprising blue shorts, two toned blue shirt and navy blue track pants all with the school logo embroided-on each piece of clothing. Students with the original uniform can continue to wear it in 2009 but should purchase the new clothing if new PE clothing is required. Uniform is to be worn for all Physical Education and Sport classes and on sporting excursions. Existing unifonn comprises - Navy blue shorts or navy blue netball skirt. Navy track pants, Red polo shirt and White socks. Students are allowed to wear full P.E. uniform Term 1 and Term 4 to school if timetabled for PE period 1 and can wear P.E. uniform home if they have P.E. period 6.
Muslim Girls Dress Code
Any girls wishing to wear traditional Muslim dress are to wear Navy blue trousers or long Navy blue skirt or dress and a White headscarf.
